Another 3-days art block and I don't get it. I feel good when painting but I just can't make myself start and if I make a break because something, even telephone or making tea, it's the same again.
Anyways it has nothing to do with the photo reference (but has an impact on the result since I started it two days ago).
I'm not happy with it, especially the fur. I was experimenting with it and suddenly there was no more time for correcting.
So, let's move on. Next time I have time, I do another one and work on my focus.

If you want to practice painting fur, I would suggest laying down the base colours and tones first in general and smoothing that out with either the smudge tool, or even the mixer brush using textured brush. You've got a good start though! Hair has a tendency to ‘clump’ together, so focus on the shadow vs light in-between the clumps, rather than individual strokes. The final step would be to chose your focus, and only there focus on painting out some single hairs. (mind you, I haven’t done this with painting yet, but the same theory works for me with graphite!)
